Help Us Create A Fund To Control The Dog And Cat Population Of Zipolite And Keep Them Healthy
In just 6 years, one female dog or cat, combined with their offspring, can produce up to 65,000 puppies or kittens.
As you can see, in the streets most of them have a bad life without love, regular food or healthcare.
Some people use puppies and kittens as toys for their kids, which would be okay if they were taken care of and integrated as members of the family, but sadly, many of these pets, once they are grown or if they have diseases, are abandoned in the streets.
In order to make the beach more appealing for tourists, many towns put out poison to “clean up” the dog and cat population, but this is not the solution.
In august 2012, terreXtra organized a two day spay and neuter campaign in which 63 animals were operated on. zipolite project 2012
In april 2013, terreXtra organized a two and a half day spay and neuter campaign in which 103 animals were operated on. spay & neuter campaign april 2013
We would like to do this twice a year on a regular basis.
A contribution of $40 usd will cover the cost of the operation for one animal whereas the cost at a veterinarian’s clinic would be as high as $200 usd.
We would also like to offer other treatments for the dogs and cats such as flea and tick prevention, antibiotics and vaccines apart from the government sponsored anti-rabies shots.
WE NEED YOUR FINANCIAL HELP TO GET THIS PROJECT STARTED AND GIVE THESE ANIMALS A FAIR CHANCE AT A GOOD AND HEALTHY LIFE.
Since 2006, terreXtra, a not-for-profit, grassroots, volunteer-based organization, has been working in and around Zipolite to implement various projects related to the environment and animal care. terreXtra
